Miposhka on the defeat against Aurora Gaming: what went wrong at Riyadh Masters

Team Spirit Dota 2 captain Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naydenov commented on the results of the meeting with Aurora Gaming in the group stage of the Riyadh Masters tournament. The player shared his thoughts on the team’s official channel in the Telegram messenger, opening the curtain on the details of two maps played.
How did the games go on the maps?
Yaroslav started his “debriefing” with the final result of the confrontation: the match ended in a draw, with a score of 1:1. Despite the ambiguous outcome, the captain was pleased with the bo2 (best-of-2) format. Miposhka called it excellent and emphasized that such a system allows teams to better adapt to various situations in matches. After that, he analyzed both played maps in detail, focusing on the key moments that influenced the result.
According to Naidenov, the first map turned out well for the “dragons”. Team Spirit was able to demonstrate a confident game, which was largely a consequence of a successful draft. “We had a great pick, everything was balanced,” the captain noted. At the same time, the opponents’ hero picks were far from ideal. The main drawback of the Aurora draft was the almost complete lack of disables – they had almost no control, which greatly limited their capabilities in combat clashes. The only exception was Pangolier, who was taken by the opposing team as the last pick. Team Spirit built a smart strategy around their draft. According to Yaroslav, the team withstood the initial pressure from Aurora and did not allow the opponents to take advantage of their aggressive playstyle. “We played well on Roshan, and this always gives a huge advantage,” the captain added. As a result, by the middle and end of the map, the initiative completely passed into the hands of the “dragons”, which allowed them to confidently bring the matter to victory.
The situation in the second map turned out to be diametrically opposite. This time, Aurora Gaming managed to assemble a strong draft, with which Team Spirit had to seriously tinker. “Our draft was also not bad, but they managed to find a more winning strategy,” admitted Yaroslav. Despite the certain potential of their pick, it turned out to be much more difficult to implement it in practice. As the captain noted, Aurora was able to competently use its strengths, catching the Spirit team in several key moments. These successful actions allowed the opponents not only to strengthen their positions, but also to put the “dragons” in an awkward position from which they were unable to get out. “In short, we lost,” Miposhka succinctly summed up, adding that this defeat will be an important lesson for the team.
